Non-Regular Program

Students who wish to study a specific subject under the guidance of supervisors at either the undergraduate or graduate level may be admitted as research (“kenkyusei”) students. We accept two types of research students, as explained below.

  1. Research students accepted into the School of Economics must have graduated or have plans to graduate from a university; alternatively, they must be recognized as having academic abilities equivalent to those of university graduates.
  2. Research students accepted into the Graduate School of Economics must have been granted or expect to be granted a master’s degree; alternatively, they must be recognized as having academic abilities equivalent to or superior to master’s candidates.

Research students are not entitled to any credits or degrees, even if they complete research assignments. Admitted research students are required to provide well-prepared research and financial plans before studies commence.
