Application at the Educational Affairs Section
- 1. Please submit “Application for Certificate” after filling in the necessary details.
- 2. The certificate will be issued the following day or later (same-day issuance is not available) (*5. Refer to the Period for Certificate Issuance). If you wish to receive the certificate by mail, please deposit a self-addressed envelope (with your address and name written, and a postage stamp affixed) at the Educational Affairs Section along with your request.
- 3. During the application and pick-up process at the counter, please present the identification documents (*6. Refer to the Identification Documents).
Application by Post
1. Submission Materials
- Reply envelope (with address and name written, and postage attached)
- “Application for Certificate” form clearly stating the required information (specified form provided as Excel and PDF files)
- Copy of identification documents (*6. Refer to the Identification Documents)
2. Application for certificate
- Individuals who changed their surname because of marriage or other reasons must specify their former surname (at the time of enrollment).
- If you prefer an English-language certificate, please provide the name in alphabetical letters (the same as your passport).
- If you know your student ID number, please include it.
- Ensure you provide your date of birth, year of enrollment, and year of graduation.
- If you enrolled in an undergraduate program before 1997, please specify your department (“Department of Economics or “Department of Business Administration”).
3. Notes on sealed certificate
If a sealed certificate is required, please indicate this in the Remarks section of the Application for Certificate. Please prepare a self-addressed reply envelope of the following sizes to accommodate the sealed certificates:
- Sealed envelope for Japanese-language certificates: 9.5 cm (vertical) x 21.8 cm (horizontal)
- Sealed envelope for English-language certificates: 10.5 cm (vertical) x 23.3 cm (horizontal)
- If you wish to seal the English language certificate, please ensure that the reply envelope is larger than the standard No. 3 size envelope. (This is because the sealed envelope for English-language certificates is almost the same size as the No. 3 envelope, which makes it difficult to insert.)
- Certificates are printed on special paper for anti-counterfeiting purposes; therefore, unless otherwise specified by the submission destination, sealing is generally not required.
4. Stamps for the reply envelope
Considering the weight of the certificate paper and sealed envelopes as indicated below, please affix sufficient stamps.
- Certificate paper: Approximately 4g/sheet (Note: The English academic transcript for the undergraduate program consists of two sheets)
- Sealed envelopes: Approximately 4g/sheet
In addition to the weight of the certificates, please consider the weight of the copy of the identification documents to be returned and the reply envelope.
Calculate the required postage using the Japan Post website and ensure that you affix appropriate stamps.
If you wish to have documents sent by express delivery, add 300 Japanese yen worth of stamps to the calculated postage for regular mail (up to 250g)
obtained from the aforementioned page.
5. Period required for certificate issuance
We do not provide same-day issuances. Generally, certificates are issued as follows, but there may be circumstances beyond our control, such as system issues, which could result in delays: Please request in advance.
Graduation Certificate and Academic Transcript (Japanese and English)
Approximately 1 week after receipt of the certificate issuance request
Academic transcripts for graduates before the 1978 academic year may take approximately 10 days.
